Black Nyonya Kebaya – Mei

I knew Mei during the coverage of Eddy & Lin‘s wedding early of the year. She is the good friend of them and was the bridesmaid on their wedding.

Mei loves simple portrait. As she is working overseas, she was hoping to have a simple personal portrait in Kebaya. Last week, Mei was back to Malaysia and staying for 2 nights. She then contacted me and planned for a personal portrait in Kebaya.

We walked around Bukit Cina area. It’s the hillside streets in Melaka town, next to one of the oldest Chinese cemetery in the country.

In this area, we could easily find old and heritage buildings from different cultures such as an old market, shops, attap dwelling, etc. And the community here are from various backgrounds and mostly senior citizens.

This area is also one of my favorite place for street photography, hence I was thinking to blend Mei in her black Nyonya Kebaya with the old streets.

We did some walk around the streets and looked for interesting spots to capture the shots. Mei was fantastic, giving her full cooperation despite having to walk under the hot sun.

Thanks to Mei and sharing some lovely shots taken on the day.
