19 Apr Celebrating Lou & Justin
When Justin reached out to me on Instagram, I was captivated by his IG’s profile photo, which showcased his tribal braids, beard, and surf-skating—it was so cool.
Lou & Justin had already celebrated their wedding in Chiang Mai, Thailand and were now hosting another reception in Melaka, Malaysia for Martin’s mother-side of the family, in adherence to the Chinese wedding tradition of serving tea to elders.
Before the reception commenced at Pampas Sky Dining of The Shore, we found some spare time. I suggested to Lou and Justin, ‘Why not explore the nearby abandoned building for some portraits?’ They agreed.
During the portrait session, I got to know the two a little more. They shared how they met each other in Australia and then embraced a nomadic lifestyle, traveling and living in different countries like Thailand. The last destination I knew they were in was Chiang Mai before their wedding here in Melaka. After this wedding, they were flying to Taiwan then back to Thailand. What a carefree and adventurous couple!
Noticing a unique ring that Justin was wearing during the shoot, Lou then excitedly explained to me that it was the wedding ring she customized for Martin. Look it up in the photos 😀
Though it was a simple wedding, it felt more like a family party. Justin’s mom had lion dance to cheer up their guests, and there was plenty of drinking and dancing that evening.
Congratulation again and thank you for having me at your wedding, Lou & Justin! I hope we can meet in Melaka again for coffee and street surf-skating!
